The NYS Division of Homeland Security and Emergency Services (DHSES) will provide an overview of New York State’s efforts to support the Bomb Squad community over the past twenty years. This program has included targeted funding from the State Homeland Security Program (SHSP), capability assessments with the federal Department of Homeland Security (DHS), call data reporting with the ATF, and the creation of advanced training events for the state’s 13 FBI-accredited Bomb Squads. DHSES is not a law enforcement agency, but through partnerships, listening, and lots of spreadsheets, the agency has created an actionable model to support Bomb Technicians across the state. This webinar will highlight these efforts, highlighting actionable insights and lessons learned for other states and regions to consider.
